The Barilla Group

Barilla is a very special company:  a privately owned, family-run multinational corporation that has been built on the talent, expertise, and hard work of four generations of the Barilla family.

Barilla was founded in 1877 in Parma, Italy, as a bread and pasta shop. Today, The Barilla Group, still headquartered in Parma, is Italy’s largest food manufacturer and the world’s largest pasta maker, producing 4,000 tons of dried pasta daily in over 120 shapes and sizes.

Barilla America Office

Barilla is organized into two global business units: Primo Piatto (pasta, pasta sauces, and savory products) and Prodotti da Forno (biscuits, toasts, snacks and soft breads).  The company operates 29 production plants in Europe, Asia and the United States, providing people in over 100 countries with the finest food products available, including semolina pasta, egg and filled pasta, pasta sauces, breads and toasts, short pastry and filled biscuits, snacks, cakes and crispbread.

One Family’s Philosophy

From its founding to the present day, Barilla has been led by four generations of the same family. Today, three brothers — group Chairman, Guido Barilla and Vice Chairmen Luca and Paolo Barilla — carry on the family’s tradition of excellence.  The Barilla brothers’ passion for their company and products is the driving force behind its innovations and remarkable success. By personally directing the work done under the Barilla name, the brothers strive to translate their deep respect for their family’s heritage and achievements into high-quality products that embody the spirit of authentic Italian cooking and contribute to the overall good health and well-being of consumers around the world.

At Barilla, food production is guided by three essential principles: product quality, commitment to nutritionally balanced eating, and, of course, flavor, the unmistakable hallmark of the Barilla brand name.  To maintain these standards, the Group engages in extensive research and development that helps us produce the best products, while always considering the concerns and needs of our customers.  The Group also operates with respect for the environment and consumer health, and serves as a helpful, caring partner in the communities in which we operate.

Finally, because Barilla considers its people to be its greatest asset – the key to its development, growth, and success – we work hard to foster natural talent and leadership with a managerial style that is based on integrity, sound decision making, and business practices that are always professional and ethical.
