If you have visited Italy, you may recall eating in a fine ristorante where regional cuisine is prepared with precision and detail. Every region of Italy has a "signature" pasta sauce made with only the freshest local ingredients. These traditional sauces have been created by generations of chefs in small family-run trattorie and elegant ristoranti to the delight of locals and visitors alike.

Now Barilla brings these distinctive regional flavors to your pasta meal with Barilla Restaurant Creations, the first-of-its-kind restaurant-quality pasta sauce for home chefs that tastes just like the pasta sauces made in Italy's finest restaurants. Each Restaurant Creations sugo (which means 'sauce' in Italian) recipe was inspired by the distinctive and authentic Italian flavors and tastes of a particular region:
-
From sun-drenched Naples and Campania,
Sugo alla Napoletana, a delicious blend of fresh tomatoes, onions, olive oil, red wine, garlic and herbs.
-
From Lazio and the Eternal City of Rome,
Sugo alla Romana, with hearty Romano and Ricotta cheeses, olive oil and herbs.
Two Jars, One Authentic Sauce
Barilla Restaurant Creations is a new, revolutionary way to make restaurant-quality pasta sauce at home. Each Restaurant Creations Sauce comes packed in a unique hourglass-shaped "dual jar" that contains not one, but two sauces, each prepared separately to allow their fresh ingredients to maintain their integrity, quality and flavor.
The bottom jar contains the "base" sauce, a delicate and smooth restaurant-quality sauce made with a blend of delicious tomatoes and olive oil. The top jar holds the "chef's recipe" sauce, made with only finest ingredients, including pesto, red wine, and Pecorino-Romano, Ricotta and Parmesan cheeses.
When you mix the two jars together in a saucepan and heat -- the only cooking necessary -- you create a sauce with all the freshness and distinctive regional flavor of sauces prepared by Italy's finest restaurants. The result is a taste that is smoother and more subtle than traditional American sauces and unlike anything else available in grocery stores today.
How to Use
Empty both Restaurant Creations jars into a saucepan, mix, and heat gently over low heat until warm (3 to 4 minutes). Toss with one pound of freshly cooked Barilla Pasta. Serves 6 to 8 people.
